Personally, Spring is my very favourite season, which is why I’m so excited to be delving right into the ways we can get inspired for Spring weddings. Are you ready to enhance your day with seasonal flair and embrace the springtime charm?

You’re quickly going to see that it’s all in the small touches, that’s what makes the big difference when it comes to curating a standout celebration. Let’s get into it.

Choose Venues with a Natural Setting

When it comes to Spring weddings, your choice of venue is one of the most important elements.

Spring is all about embracing nature and the outdoors, so if you’re thinking about choosing a venue that’s completely indoors, with no views of any of the external grounds or access to outdoor area, then this will really impact the feel of the day.

Indoor venues like function rooms in the basement of high end hotels, or more casual restaurant settings will most likely not be able to offer the serene and peaceful views of natural elements, which in my opinion can be some of the most beautiful aspects of a spring wedding.

Insider tip: When visiting a venue with outdoor space, make sure you ask about the outdoors at your initial showround. Ask the onsite team exactly what the venue looks like during spring - do they have daffodils, tulips or peonies coming through, or any other seasonal flowers that will add a little extra charm? Ask to see photos, to get an idea of where you might like to take your wedding photos.

Make sure you’re also taking into consideration how much of the outdoors is visible from inside your wedding venue.

We all know that spring is famous for its showers, so if your plan A is for guests to enjoy the grounds, but the weather Gods aren’t on the same pace, then you’ll need to think of a wet weather alternative.

This is vital when it comes to wedding planning in ANY season in ANY location. If the weather isn’t 100% on your wedding day, you still ideally want to be able to have the natural views as a big part of your day.

At Offley Place, our two main venue spaces are The Conservatory and The Hester Ballroom, which look out onto our beautiful green parkland. You’re able to enjoy all the beauty of the natural elements, even if you aren’t spending a lot of your day outdoors.

Opt for Floral Bridal Styling

Florals in Spring are, in my opinion, a must.

Floral embellishments are the perfect addition to your Spring bridal look, and there are many unique ways you can incorporate them into your bridal styling, whatever your desired look.

Here are a few of my favourite ways to incorporate florals into your styling.

Scattered Throughout Your Veil

Adding floral elements to your veil is a beautiful and whimsical way to incorporate the springtime look into your wedding aesthetic. These could be lace details, embellishment or beading, and you can really play with the scale and positioning to find your perfect balance.

Embellishment For Your Dress

I fell in love with Bel Powley’s stunning Miu Miu wedding dress, which featured an a-line silhouette and thousands of crystal and floral appliques.

It was so striking, and so clean yet so feminine at the same time. Perfect for Spring.

Intricately Woven into a Hairpiece

A floral wedding hairpiece adds such a feminine softness to your look, and especially if you've opted not to have a veil, it gives that extra little detail to tie your styling to the season.

You can colour match your wedding florals, or opt for white or cream depending on your own personal style.

Whichever way you choose to incorporate florals into your look, they have the ability to bring ethereal and feminine charm, an aspect of lighthearted fun, or a graphic, fashion forward aesthetic.

And as a bonus, flowers are traditionally symbolic of love, purity and new beginnings. Perfect for your Spring bridal look, right?

If you want to add a personal touch, choose flowers that have some meaning to you, or even ones that will feature in your displays or at the venue itself.

Natural elements are timeless, but done the right way, including some unexpected floral embellishments in the fashion of the day adds a fresh and graceful touch.

Not sure you want to commit to florals all day long?

Why not opt for a floral element that can be removed. That way you’ll have a transformation of a second look. Gloves, overskirts and detachable sleeves are amazing for this.

I did a bridal photoshoot here at Offley Place where I styled a gorgeous overskirt by Maggie Sottero, which was adorned with delicate silk organza flowers. The overskirt itself was very long, which created so much drama, but the flowers made it feel much softer. In my opinion, this is the perfect way to add a touch of floral to your look without committing all day, as it can so easily be detached.

3. Pastel Tablescapes

Soft, delicate pastel colours are the perfect pairing with a Spring wedding tablescape.

Think blush pinks, mint greens, dusty blues and lavender purples to add a touch of romance and fun to your table.

I personally think that wedding table design is so important when it comes to the look and feel of your day. It’s where your guests will spend a large portion of their day, so you definitely don’t want it to feel as though it’s an afterthought. It should be a well considered part of the day’s design.

To include pastel colours is very easy, and swapping out the traditional white tablecloth or napkins for your colour of choice will instantly make a big difference. I’ve seen some beautiful tablescapes where a few different pastel colours are mismatched, which creates a very playful and fun feel - just make sure the tones feel balanced when they’re all together.

Another option I love is coloured glassware or charger plates (the plates that sit under the service plates). This can bring some originality to your table, and make a big impact.

In general, your table settings are a fun and easy place to add pops of colour to really incorporate that springtime feel, and add some originality to the styling of your day.

Bringing pastel colours into the design is really easy here, you can either choose a lightly coloured table cloth as opposed to traditional white, or coloured napkins. Even charger plates - the ones that sit under your service plate, and glassware - can be colourful to bring that springtime feel.

Make Your Flowers a Statement

More often than not, florals take centre stage in designing a spring wedding.

By this I don't just mean florals specifically, but also botanical elements in general, like leaves and greenery.

Whatever you choose, they’re going to have a big impact on the styling of your day, so it’s important to get them right.

Cascading Bouquet

A personal favourite of mine is oversized or cascading bridal bouquets, which can be a beautiful way to showcase any seasonal flowers.

Have a chat with your florist, as they are bound to have great ideas about what will be in bloom, and you can create something together that you absolutely love.

A Floral Arch

If you want to go for an even bigger statement, then a rich floral arch for your ceremony will make a serious impact for the most special part of the day, and can be a stunning backdrop for your photos.

You might even be able to move the arch from your ceremony to your wedding breakfast space the next day too - they make a beautiful addition to the top table.

Hanging Floral Installations

Hanging floral installations add a delicate elegance and drama to your day. I had two hanging floral installations on my wedding day at Offley Place, and it was incredible to feel how it lifted the decor of the space, I would really recommend it if you want to add an extra special touch.

If you’re considering them then make sure you speak to your venue, as they might have restrictions around it, and it’s best to check before getting too attached to any specifics.

Tablescape Florals

When it comes to designing your tablescape, opting for florals that compliment the colours of your plates, glasses and table decor will really pull the whole look together. And don’t forget to take your vases and bowls into consideration too, these can add even more depth to the design.

To make an even bigger statement you could even consider floral trees as a centrepiece for your tables. I've only seen it at a handful of weddings, so it feels very unexpected, but can really elevate the feel of the day and add some extra drama.

Mismatched or Patterned Bridesmaids Dresses

Finally, a design feature you will either love or hate, but it’s personally one of my favourite springtime wedding additions.

Spring is the time where you can really embrace patterns and mismatching when it comes to bridesmaids dresses. It’s a transitional season, which makes it perfect for embracing change, and mismatched bridal dresses are one fun way to do it.

They can also be a lot easier to navigate than just choosing one dress or colour, especially when your bridesmaids have different colourings or body shapes - we want to make sure everyone in your bridal party is feeling and looking their best.

Patterned dresses takes the theme one step further, as it adds a new visual interest, and a pop of personality into your look. This comes as a welcome change to the traditional bridesmaids dresses, which are made to keep everyone looking the same, and lose a bit of personality for the sake of highlighting the bride.

Of course, I’m not saying we shouldn’t be highlighting the bride! But I don’t think that everyone else has to look the exact same in order for us to do this.

Patterned bridesmaids dresses are fun and playful, and compliment the bride and her wedding in a different way.

Plus, the dresses are more likely to be something your bridesmaids can wear again in normal life.

Whether you combine some or all of these elements, you are bound to create a really fresh, modern feel for your wedding day, bringing that beautiful spring-time feeling of new beginnings.
