We need to talk about Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's iconic wedding, so lets break down the key components for you to get inspired.
Kourtney and Travis’ wedding journey included several celebrations, all with their own unique vibe.
They first had a ‘practice’ wedding in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator, followed by an intimate courthouse ceremony with just their closest family members. Their final, grand celebration took place at L’Uliveta Villa, owned by Dolce & Gabbana. This is the wedding we’ll be focusing on today, as it features so many inspiring elements I think you might want to consider for your own wedding. Let’s delve into the standout elements of their celebration and explore how you can incorporate some of these ideas into your wedding.

Classic Dress with a Twist
Unconventional bridal looks always end up being the most memorable, and Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding dress certainly fits that bill.
She wore a bespoke Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda lace and satin corset mini dress, inspired by Italian 1960s lingerie. While the corset, lace, and satin are classic bridal elements, their incorporation into a mini dress gave the look a n unexpected modern edge. This just goes to show that if you’re looking for a bridal style that’s unique, sometimes it starts with the classical elements, which you can add your own fresh take to.

Opting for a mini dress on your wedding day can be such a fun, flirty choice. It’s something that’s becoming increasingly popular for courthouse weddings or as an outfit change for the evening reception. However, it remains a bold move for a larger celebration. If long gowns aren’t your style, a mini dress can be an excellent choice for comfort and a chance to showcase your wedding shoes, which often go unnoticed with longer dresses.
It still feels like a really bold and daring move to wear a mini dress to your larger wedding celebration - perhaps it’s because there is still quite a lot of traditional and conventional elements at play when it comes to a wedding. But if you love the look, I encourage you to embrace it. Just remember, your wedding dress should reflect your personal style and make you feel ‘yourself.’
Pulling inspiration from lingerie is also a little unconventional when it comes to bridal wear. But when it comes to your wedding dress, this is your moment of self-expression. If you’re designing a bespoke dress, this is much simpler but even if that isn’t an option for you, keep in mind that your wedding dress needs to reflect you and you need to feel ‘yourself’ in it.
Spend some time thinking of what kind of things you feel your best in and how you’d like to feel on your wedding day - I think this is a great starting point and the best mindset when it comes to looking for your perfect dress.
Statement Veils
No discussion of Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding would be complete without mentioning her striking statement veil.
The cathedral-length veil featured cross-stitch embroidery of the Virgin Mary and the words ‘family, loyalty, respect,’ inspired by Travis Barker’s tattoo. This subtle detail carried deep significance and symbolised their commitment in such a beautiful way.
Statement veils have gained popularity, evolving from simple accessories into focal points for your bridal look. Brides are choosing veils with intricate lace, beading, and embroidery to make a bold statement. Once your veil is removed your look can change completely.
Embroidered details can also be incredibly personal. You might want to add initials, symbols, or images that hold special meaning for you both.
For my own wedding, I included the words ‘always and forever’ and a butterfly symbolising my mother. Even though guests may not always notice these little details, they’re meaningful for you to cherish.
The beauty of veil embroidery is that it's something personal, done for you, not your guests. Chances are, they won’t notice the details. But that’s okay, because it gives you the freedom to choose designs you love without any pressure. Whether you include your initials, symbols, or inspiration from something meaningful like a tattoo, it adds a unique touch to your bridal look. In the end, veils and embroidery are truly a match made in heaven—this is one detail you don’t want to overlook.

Vibrant Food Stations
Even if food isn’t something that feels like it’s one of the most important features to you, trust me, it’s going to be important to your guests. The food you serve is going to be one of the key elements they’re going to remember when they think back on your big day, so it’s one you’ll want to get right.
Kourtney and Travis elevated their dining experience with interactive food stations. Their wedding featured a pasta bar and a made-to-order cream cannoli station (my dream come true!) served on vibrant crockery that added character and charm to the setting.
Food stations offer something a little different to traditional plated meals, allowing guests to explore various dishes at their own pace. They are so much more interactive, and allow your guests to socialise and mingle as they move through the venue, instead of just talking to the people on their table.
You’ll find it a lot easier to cater to diverse dietary requirements, and can either stick to a theme like the Italian one at this wedding, or a selection of your own favourite dishes - there’s so much scope for personalisation.
I’d still definitely recommend asking if guests have any allergies or intolerances on their RSVP cards, but this should make it so much simpler to make sure they get what they need. Additionally, you won’t have to ask all your guests for menu choices - which let me tell you is one of the most painful, hardest parts of wedding planning as some guests seem to change their mind (and their dietary restrictions) as soon as they respond!
So, if you can side-step that whole ordeal, you’ll be thankful for it!
Vibrant crockery is also a fun infusion to your day, and a simple way to elevate the look and feel of more classic dishes. If you’d prefer to keep your dishes simple, then swapping out your crockery for something colourful and creative will go a long way to making the meal feel fresh and fun.You can either speak to your catering company about different crockery options, or if you’d like to make it even more quirky you can start collecting different pieces yourselves to create a vibrant, mix and match selection to brighten your day.
Inspiring Invitations
Kourtney and Travis’ invitations were another highlight of the day. Designed by celebrity tattoo artist Dr Woo, the invitations featured a sacred heart logo and embodied ‘simple, cool with a touch of fairytale’ aesthetic.
This bespoke design set the tone for their entire wedding and is a reminder of how even small details can significantly impact your wedding’s overall look and feel. Inspiration can really come to you from anywhere.Stationery isn’t usually on the top of the planning list and although there may be several suggestions about an ‘order’ in which you should plan your wedding, or what specific step leads into the next - this just goes to show you that sometimes the element that brings it all together is one of the smaller details that you may not have even expected.
If you’re passionate about stationery, it can play a key role in your wedding design. Your invitations will set the tone for your day and give your guests a little taste of what’s to come. Once you’re really happy with your design for this, you can then echo that in your menu cards on the table, your welcome sign, table plan - or any other details. It just gives you that continuity in a really elegant, subtle way.
Consider working with artists or creatives you admire to create your very own unique invitations that reflect your personal style and set the stage for your celebration. If there are creatives that you are drawn towards who aren’t necessarily traditional wedding stationers (perhaps they’re illustrators. Caricaturists or different types of artists), don’t feel that you can’t reach out to them to enquire about a bespoke collaboration for your wedding stationery - it really could be the one element that makes all the difference to the design of your day.
Personalised Gifts for Your Guests
This is a bit of a follow-on from the previous element, but it’s a really lovely one nonetheless, as I know wedding favours and gifts for guests can be a big question. Kourtney and Travis chose to leave their guests a special gift in their hotel rooms—something they could take home, use forever, and remember the wedding by. They had their sacred heart logo, designed by Dr. Woo for their invitations, etched into a pair of Baccarat glasses.
Gifts for guests can be tricky to get right, but I think these personalised glasses were a perfect way to keep the memory of the wedding alive in a subtle, elegant way—and something guests will actually use and cherish.
Now, it doesn’t have to be glassware, but a practical and personal gift is usually the best way to go. For our wedding, we gave long tapered dinner candles with a hand-painted message on each one for all our guests—something they could actually use but still felt personal to our day. I’ve also seen really gorgeous engraved trinket boxes or matchboxes with beautiful, personalised designs. For our closer family members, we chose engraved Jo Malone perfume bottles and whiskey bottles, which went down really well. For my bridesmaids, I put together several gifts in a personalised cosmetics bag. If you'd like to hear more about the gifts from my own wedding, let me know in the comments below, as we put a lot of thought into them and I was really happy with how they turned out.
Of course, edible (or drinkable!) favours always go down well and are a safe bet, but the only downside is they can’t be kept as a lasting memory. So, if you’re looking for something your guests can hold onto for longer, I’d definitely suggest thinking about some of the more personal gifts we’ve explored. Let me know if you’d like more ideas!
Little touches like this really make your guests feel special, so if you can spend a bit of time organising something (even just for a few guests who mean a lot to you), I promise it’ll be really appreciated.

Matching Leather Jackets
As the evening cooled down in Portofino, Kourtney and Travis wrapped up their day in matching white leather jackets with "Mr Barker" and "Mrs Barker" hand-painted on the back (also by the incredibly talented Dr. Woo! You can really see how much his designs influenced so many elements of their wedding).
Now, matching leather jackets might not be for everyone, but I thought it was such a fun detail. If it's your kind of thing, now's the time to plan it so you can have it ready for the end of the night. It doesn’t even have to be leather—I’ve seen some really cool denim jackets in different colours if that’s more your vibe.
You can also personalise them however you like, whether it’s with a monogram, the date of your wedding, or symbols that are meaningful to you. The options for personalisation are pretty much endless! These jackets add a contemporary, edgy twist to the traditional wedding look.
While it's definitely a bit of fun, I do think it makes a bold and memorable statement, symbolising the couple’s unity and the start of their journey together. Plus, they make the perfect keepsake from your special day!
All the elements we’ve looked at come together to create this fresh, alternative wedding aesthetic that really focuses on details, personalised touches, and the guest experience.
The key takeaway here is to pick the elements you love and tailor them to reflect your own style and love story. Kourtney and Travis did this so well, throwing out tradition in favour of a celebration that was unapologetically ‘them’ - and that’s what matters most.
